Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY – E. Lorane Groesser, age 95, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Orchard Creek Assisted Living Facility in the loving care of her family.
Born September 3, 1921, in Alexandria, Illinois to her parents James T. and Lorena Dunn Burdette. She was the youngest of their five children.
Lorane came to Traverse City in 1928, attended the local schools and graduated from Traverse City Senior High in 1940. She then attended Lewis Chapin School of Business in Traverse City and Northwestern Michigan College.
On August 30, 1946, in Traverse City, she married Harry E. Groesser Jr., a union that lasted 55 years.
She retired from Michigan Employment Security Commission in Traverse City after a career of 37 years as a Job Placement Specialist.
Her interests were many; decorating, reading, gardening, cooking for friends. She was truly a people person. An active volunteer in many community programs, she always found time to help family and friends.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family and grandchildren were an important part of her life, as well as her many close friends. Lorane enjoyed life, she was well known for her fashion sense and style, and her great sense of humor.
Lorane is survived by her daughter; Sue (Jerry) Seidner of Traverse City, daughter-in-law; Sharon Fleis, grandchildren; Heather (Benjamin) Chapman, Natalie Groesser, and Austin Groesser, great-grandchildren; Raylee and Hazel Chapman, Andrew, Nikolas, Alexander, and Logan Hatton.
Lorane was preceded in death by her parents; James and Lorena Burdette, husband; Harry Groesser, son; Michael Groesser, brothers; James and Earl Burdette, and twin sisters; Nona Furney and Oma Beck.
Cremation has taken place. She will reside in the family crypt at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. No services are planned. The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Orchard Creek and Hospice of Michigan for their tender care and devotion.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Michigan, 10850 E Traverse Hwy #1155, Traverse City, MI 49684, and/or Traverse City Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Road, Traverse City, MI 49686.
