Edith Claire Blodgett, 85, of Traverse City passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was born in France, on June 17, 1927, to Gaston and Claire (Becquet) Saudemont. On September 1, 1950, she married Howard H. Blodgett, whom preceded her in death on September 30, 1983. Her mother, Claire Becquet, died on November 9, 1983. On December 27, 1984, she married Robert H. Crow. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1992.
Edith was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and impacted the lives of 65 children working to help raise them as a foster parent. She also worked as a nurse's aide in pediatrics at Munson Medical Center for 15 years. After retirement, Edith, enjoyed the many activities held at the Traverse City Senior Center as well as spending time crocheting, knitting and playing bingo. In earlier years Edith spent time fishing and practicing her talent as a concert level the pianist. Edith loved animals and will be remembered by many.
Edith is survived by her four children, Don G. (Ann Marie) Blodgett; Shirley H. (Don) Topping; Michael H. (Ann) Blodgett and Harry M. (Holly) Blodgett; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Blodgett; seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her son, this past June, Howard "Joe" Blodgett and a brother, Pierre Saudemont.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. vigil service at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 A.M. on Thursday, July 19th at the St. Francis Catholic Church, with Rev. Kenneth Stachnik officiating.
Grave-side committal services will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens
