Edith 'Marie' Cannon, 95, of Traverse City passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at The Villas at Traverse Point surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born on Friday, November 11, 1921 in Lunsford, AR to William and Stella (Smith) Davis. She married Clyde Leighton Cannon at a service in Roseville, MI on December 21, 1950. Marie worked for the Oakwood Healthcare system for over 45 years as a Materials Manager.

Loving and giving are two words affectionately used to describe Marie. She literally would give the shirt off of her back to help those in need and she was blessed for her actions. She was the matriarch and she provided a wonderful example for her family and loved ones to follow. Marie loved the Lord and was faithful in studying her bible, which she knew very well.

Marie is survived by her daughter Donna (David) Broman; stepdaughter Linda Morgan; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Cannon, sister-in-law Nancy Davis; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Cannon; parents William and Stella (Smith) Davis; son Edward William 'Bill' Cannon, Jr; sisters Dorothy Mathews, Helen Silvernail, Betty Marshall, William Davis; brothers John Davis and infant Billy Davis.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Doyle Berg will officiate services. Graveside services at Oakwood Cemetery will follow the service.
