Edith Margot Jenny (Jordan) Ziebart, 94, of Acme Michigan, left her earthly body to be with her Lord on June 21st 2022.
Edith, affectionally called Oma, by her grandchildren, was born on October 28th, 1927 to the late Oskar and Martha (Schlosinski) Jordan in Berlin, Germany. At a young age, she put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ which proved to be the best decision she ever made. Edith was a good student, enjoyed school and developed close friendships that endured a literal lifetime.
After graduating the 8th grade, she chose to enter the banking profession. At the bank, she excelled; earning a reputation for her integrity, precision, honesty, and excellent work ethic. As a young woman in Berlin during WWII she continued to work at the bank and endured the hardships of bombing raids, the cruelty of conquering communists and then after the war, severe food shortages. During this time, Edith's faith in God stood firm and her life verse became Proverbs 18:10. Shortly after the war, she fell in love with and married a man of faith, Kurt Ziebart. They immigrated to the United States and were delighted to become citizens. They have three children and six grandchildren.
Here are a few things we believe, Edith (Oma) wants to be remembered for; first and foremost, her saving faith in her "good shepherd" Jesus Christ as evidenced by her persistent evangelism demonstrated by sharing the gospel with her children, grandchildren, friends and acquaintances. Oma had a genuine appreciation and love for God's word. She loved her grandchildren and stayed in contact with them daily with her iPad and became their biggest cheerleader and encourager. A persistent prayer warrior, a faithful and loving Wife, Mom, and Oma. A steadfast friend to many. She demonstrated a tremendous gift of hospitality, often serving elaborate gourmet meals, fabulous desserts and providing mounds of cookies and snacks made from scratch to hold you over until the next feast. No one left hungry. She often said she was happiest when all of her family had their feet under the dinner table. Oma was active in the church teaching Sunday School, the church accountant, showing generosity, hosting church events and bible studies. She loved music, including hymns, German folk songs and classical music. She had a love for flowers and had a beautiful floral rock garden adorned with gnomes. Oma maintained her home one level above most people's definition of cleanliness. She loved living on the water, swimming, boating, fishing, water-skiing, sailing and drinking in the beauty of magnificent sunsets from her home on East Grand Traverse Bay. Oma enjoyed good clean fun and was well known for her pranks and practical jokes. She authored 3 books about her family's history. Oma tenderly served as Mom to many people, welcoming them into her home for times of prayer, encouragement, meals and celebrations. Some of her adopted and dearly loved children included Cate, Ken, and Jennifer.
We miss her, but are comforted with the assurance, that her spirit left her body and is now in the presence of her Lord enjoying life in perfect bliss. It hard to surpass this level of joy, but it will, when she receives a new resurrected body and will in time, greet her friends and family, that have a genuine faith in Jesus Christ.
Oma is survived by Jenny her oldest daughter, Herb her son, his wife Carolyn & their 4 daughters Erika, Rachel, Heather, and Laura. Her youngest, Doris Hagedorn with her 2 sons Adam and Micah.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kurt; mom Martha; her dad Oskar, and sister Vera.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 1:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior, at East Bay Calvary Church, Traverse City.
