Traverse City-Edward P. Banghart, 86, of Interlochen, died early Tuesday Morning. November 12, 2013, at Munson Medical Center.
Born on April 30, 1927 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Irvine and Jessica (VanZandt) Banghart. On March 25, 1982, at All Saints Lutheran Church in Traverse City he married the former Patricia Mallett.
Ed grew up in Geneva, Ill, where he attended local schools. He furthered his education by attending and graduating from the University of Michigan where he earned his Masters Degree in Music. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Interlochen Center for the Arts as a choir director and administrator.
His interests includeed reading and listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Banghart of Traverse City; daughter, Dawn Banghart (Tom Koos) of Woodside, CA ; son, Thomas Banghart; of Valley Village, CA; stepson, Reed (Diana) Anderson of Sylvanis, OH; stepson, Paul (Cheryl) Anderson of Los Alamos, NM; and grandchildren Max and Ian Anderson.
Memorial Services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Paul Busekist officiating.
In remembrance of Ed, memorial contributions may be directed to Interlochen Center for the Arts. Envelopes may be obtained at the church.
