TRAVERSE CITY — Edward R. Bloxsom, 87, of Traverse City and formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at his home on Old Mission Peninsula.Edward was born Feb. 11, 1923, to the late Ottie and Addie (Trimner) Bloxsom in Reed City.Edward answered the call of duty serving his country as a sergeant with the United States Army, 9th Engine Overhaul Squadron, during World War II. Returning home, Edward entered into marriage with the former Geraldine Acker on Oct. 18, 1945, in Big Rapids. Ed relocated to Traverse City where he owned and operated Bloxsom Roofing, with his brothers Tom and Jack, for many years until eventually retiring. Ed and Jerri are members of Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Ed was known for his sense of humor and love of children. He was a stranger to no one and would be caught saying hi to just about everyone he saw. Ed enjoyed walking along Bluff Road where he could wave to all who drove by. Ed will be missed by a loving family, leaving a legacy for many to aspire to and being remembered for always wanting a hug.Edward is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Geraldine Bloxsom, of Traverse City; his son, Edward (Laurie) Bloxsom, of Traverse City; two daughters, Patricia Pascoe, of Traverse City, and Bonnie (Don) Renshaw, of San Juan, Texas; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Grace) Bloxsom; and many other loving family members and friends.Edward was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Willard and Jack and one in infancy; and his son-in-law, Jack.Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.Please share thought's with the family at
