Edward John Limina, 79, of Traverse City, a full blooded Irishman, who was very proud of his heritage, passed away on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2013 at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
Ed was born on Thursday, October 12, 1933 in Detroit, the son of Peter and Mary (Ward) Limina, immigrants from Ireland. Ed married Patricia Ann Hagan Kost on Saturday, July 2, 1977 in Mt. Clemens.
Ed had been a Supervisor at General Dynamics prior to his retirement in 1991, having worked for the company for 39 years. He and Pat had made their home in Harrison and Clinton Townships up until his retirement, when they moved to a home on Bass Lake in Traverse City. Ed was a kind spirited man who loved and was loved by many. He had enjoyed deer hunting and fishing over the years, outings on his pontoon boat on Bass Lake and was a Tigers, Lions and MSU fan. He attended St Patrick Catholic Church and was active in the Traverse Hills Condo Association.
Surviving Ed are his daughters, Karen (Dan) Bradley of Harrison Twp, Julie (Bill) Mullaly of Almont, Michelle (Bob) Grassa of Onekema, Susan Badalucco of Washington Twp.; his stepchildren, David (Katherine) Kost of Rancho Palos Verde, CA, Diana (Eddie) Zutantas of Shelby Twp., Kathy Kost and her close friend Beth Ball of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Nicole (Steve) Cholette, Bill (Dena) Mullaly, Megan, Melissa and Matt Grassa, Ashley (Mike) Chrzanowski, Jeff Kost, Stephen and Nicholas Zutantas; his sister Mary (Paul) Witt of Clinton Twp.; several nieces and nephews and his first wife and mother of his children, Dolores Lee of Fort Gratiot. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat on Jan. 8, 2012, and his son in law, Dennis Badalucco.
Visitation for Ed will take place Friday, March 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home where a Scripture Service will begin at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, The Rev. Fr. Greg McCullum presiding. Visitation will take place at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
