Obituary

Edward James Rodgers II, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 73.

Ed grew up in Birmingham, attended Brother Rice High School, and Michigan State University. After graduating, he moved to Northern Michigan, where he called home and married the love of his life, Tammi. Ed ("Fast Eddie") was a salesman in the lumber and building supply industry for 41 years. He developed close relationships with his customers, many of whom, became close friends. He had a big smile, a loud booming voice, and had never met a stranger. Ed loved his family. His daughter, son, and grandkids were number one, and he had a special relationship with his nieces and nephews – the best uncle Ed. He loved his mother's birth family who he met later in life and was so grateful to cousins Pam and Ed Susralski for their genealogy search to find him. He was a fierce, devoted, and unwavering fan of Michigan sports – the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and all Michigan State teams. He was a kind and gentle soul with the biggest heart, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Ed is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tammi (Aardema) Rodgers; daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Rodgers (Jeremy Sestok); son, Edward J. Rodgers III (Beth Kniffin); grandchildren, Charles Rodgers, Madelyn Sestok; brothers, Mark Rodgers, Michael (Mary "DeeDee") Rodgers; siblings-in-law, Randy (Trish) Aardema, Nancy (William) Edginton, Kim (William) Ruble; step-siblings, Christine Burkhardt, Lucy Beyer, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Margaret (Connell) Rodgers; his stepmother, Jean Rodgers and his stepbrother, David Beyer.

A Celebration of Life honoring Ed will be held from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Yuba School Historic Community Center, 5825 Yuba Road, Williamsburg, MI.
