Edward W. Routzahn, 90, long-time Livonia resident and more recently residing at the Highlander at Boardman Lakes Glen in Traverse City, passed away December 11, 2014 in Traverse City. Ed was born August 12, 1924, in Dearborn to Charles N. and Emma C. (Price) Routzahn. He served in the U.S. Army as a Msg. Sgt. in WWII participating in the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp in Dachau, Germany. He married Gloria M. (Kroepel) Routzahn on October 2, 1948. Ed worked as District Sales Manager for Sharon Steel Corporation in Dearborn, for 44 years. After retiring from Sharon Steel Corporation, he obtained his real estate license and worked for Century 21 ROW in Livonia prior to moving to Traverse City in 2009. Ed was a founding member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Livonia and served the church in various capacities throughout his life. Ed was a devoted husband, father and friend to all and we will miss his teasing, jokes and good counsel. Surviving are his son, Donald Routzahn of Traverse City; daughter, Nancy (Patrick) Beecher of Traverse City and granddaughter, Chelsea Routzahn of Los Angeles, California. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 58 years, Gloria; sisters, Margaret Canfield of Maryland, Doris Guldner of Houghton Lake; and his brothers, Carl Routzahn of Mio, and Raymond of Clinton Township. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 1to 4PM at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City. A subsequent visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4 until 7 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. A prayer service will be held in the chapel at Glen Eden Cemetery located in Livonia, on Tuesday, December 16, at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church of Livonia, Trinity Lutheran Church of Traverse City, or the church or organization of your choice.
