INTERLOCHEN – Edwin Thomas Morgan, 90, of Interlochen, passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2014. Edwin was born on December 10, 1923, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Wade and Mary (Robinson) Morgan. Edwin proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II, he was honorably discharged in December of 1945. He married Theresa Tafelsky on July 29, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City. Together they lovingly raised two sons. Edwin was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church. During his life, Edwin enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. He worked for the Traverse City Light and Power in Traverse City and retired after 28 years of service. He was a skilled welder and metal lathe operator. While employed at the Traverse City Light and Power, he made parts for the coal-fired turbines in the Bayfront Power Plant.
Edwin is survived by his two sons, Daniel (Michelle) Morgan, Stephen (Colleen) Morgan; grandchildren Elizabeth (Tom) Sheehan and Rebecca Morgan, Jenifer (Timothy) Zywicki and Jonathan (Sarah) Morgan; great-grandsons Dylan and Cayden Morgan and Mitchell Zywicki; two sisters Florence Helmick and Anna Zionskowski.
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Thomas Alan Morgan, and his wife, Theresa Morgan.
Visitation will be held for Edwin from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 9th, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a rosary held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., on Friday, October 10th, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Saint Patrick's Catholic Church.
