Edwin A. Ramsden's Obituary
Edwin A. Ramsden, 90 of Livonia and more recently of Traverse City, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
Born in Kingston, MI to the late Roy Frederick and Gladys Pearl (Kreger) Ramsden, Ed spent the majority of his childhood and adult life in metro Detroit, spending his time as a young man tinkering around with old cars and cruising down Woodward Ave before taking up the family business of bricklaying.
Ed served our country honorably in the United States Armed Forces, first in Japan and then in Korea as part of the first landing forces on the Pusan Perimeter.
Following his return from the war, he married the late Lutie (Page) Ramsden in 1954; they were married for over 63 years and raised two wonderful daughters in a home that he built with the help of his father and brother.
A voracious reader who frequently bought used books by the bag, Ed could sit in silence for hours engrossed in a story. When he wasn't reading the latest spy novel or making corny jokes that were emphasized by his toothy grin, Ed was exercising, spending a total of 1.5 hours each day doing 30 minutes of stationary biking, 30 minutes of bands, 50 pushups, 50 situps, and other exercises that he was determined to continue at the young age of 90.
Above all else, Ed will be remembered for his innate ability to keep pushing forward without being phased by any and all limitations. His quiet determination and ridiculous sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Loving father of Janell (Kevin) Clayton, and Linda (Scott) Maxwell. Proud grandfather of Kelly, Katie (Liam) Allen, and Kendra (AJ) LaCross. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Mutter, his brother Richard Ramsden, and many other beloved family members.
Due to social distancing requirements, graveside services will take place next to his wife at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Grand Traverse Pavilions at https://www.gtpavilions.org/donate/ .
