Eileen B. Tinnette

August 3, 1921 — March 30, 2015

Eileen Blakeslee Birdsall Tinnette was born August 3, 1921. She was adopted in infancy by Mary and Charles Blakeslee of Grand Rapids. She married Howard Birdsall of Detroit in Dundee, Michigan, in 1943. She was widowed in 1952, and married Donald C. Tinnette on December 3, 1954, in Detroit.
They lived in Detroit from 1954 to 1980 when they moved to Traverse City. Eileen was an executive secretary for several employers in Detroit. She worked for Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, retiring in 1998.

She was an active volunteer for the Munson Women's Auxillary, serving as an officer and working the Gift Shop and Information Desk.
Eileen was widowed for the second time in 2009 and then became a resident of Hawthorne Cottage, Grand Traverse Pavilions. She participated in many Hawthorne activities and loved her Hawthorne "family".
Eileen's family remembers her as the decorator and hostess for many family holidays and birthdays, serving gigantic meals well into her 80's. Her grandaughters loved their trips with her and their grandfather to Bob-Lo Island, Sea World of Ohio, and South Manitou Island to name a few. Eileen loved a prime beef roast, a glass of wine, and dessert always!
Eileen is survived by her son, Charles Birdsall (Kathy) of Traverse City and daughter Stephanie Fair of Mansfield, Ohio; sister, Dorothy Blakeslee Sullivan of Oroville, California; granddaughters, Kirsten Craw (Terry) of Greenwich, CT and Karen Moorjani (Richard) of Christ Church, Barbados, great-grandchildren, Charlie, Abby, Sebastian and Sadie, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family requests any donations be sent to the Cherryland Humane Society in Eileen's name.
