TRAVERSE CITY — Eleanor Beck Maley, 69, of Traverse City, peacefully passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010.Eleanor was born June 9, 1941. She grew up in Chicago and moved to Traverse City in 1978. Here, she raised her three children, Alexander "Alex" Sarantos, Katharine "Kate" Sarantos and Christina "Cricket" Brookfield.Her life cannot be justifiably described in a few sentences; however, let the reader know that her family was always her top priority in life and she dedicated herself to them without reserve. She had a passion for the Arts and her remarkable creativity was evident in everything she did. Her kindness and humor were felt by all who knew her and will be immeasurably missed.Eleanor is survived by her son, Alex, of Beulah; her daughters, Kate, of Traverse City, and Cricket and husband, Lance, of Kent, England; three grandchildren, Cricket Mummey, Samantha Brown and Maxwell Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jackson.She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Katharine Maley, and her brother, Tim Maley.A gathering of friends and family will be held at Eleanor's home between 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Munson Hospice House.Please share thoughts with the family at Eleanor's online guestbook at
