Obituary

Eleanor (Ellie) Joynt Peters, 96, of Traverse City passed away
peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Ellie was born on February 1, 1918 in Seaford, Delaware to the late William and Nina (Colborne) Horsey. She was married to Thomas V. Joynt, who preceded her in death in 1976. They owned Billmar Sports, where Tom serviced the sporting goods and Ellie ran the gift shop. She later remarried. Ellie was a member of the Episcopal Faith and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had many interests which included golf and a good hand of Bridge.

Eleanor was fiesty, did not mince words, and maintained an excellent sense of humor to the end. She was deeply loved by her family. Eleanor was the family matriarch for her three grandsons; Michael (Patty) Joynt, Brian (Christy) Joynt and David Joynt. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; Evelyn, Lyla, Veda and Nolan.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Joynt and a brother, William Horsey.

A private burial service has taken place.
