Elizabeth Ina Haney, 98 of Empire passed away peacefully at Rosegate Residential Care on March 21, 2013.
Elizabeth was born on June 24, 1914 in Clare to the late William and Elizabeth (Cunningham) Balsley. She married the late Leroy "Leslie" Haney on September 26, 1936 in Detroit, Mi. They were married an amazing 76 years before his death last year.
Elizabeth proudly owned and ran the Novi Convalescent Home for many years. After retirement in 1975, they moved to Empire and fulfilled one of their lifelong dreams of owning their own farm.
She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Empire, a member of the RSVP's., and the Metropolitan Club in Southfield. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling and taking photos and videos of her family.
Surviving Elizabeth are her children, Kurt (Sue) Haney of Waterford, MI, Pamela Haney of Traverse City, 12 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, son Allen Haney, granddaughter Colleen Haney, siblings, Ronald Balsley, Myrtle Hinkle, Laura Kureth and William Balsley.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a visitation held one hour prior.
