Elizabeth Mieras Havill

Elizabeth Mieras Havill, 93, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September, 06, 2012 with her family by her side.

Elizabeth was born on November 14, 1918, in Detroit MI, to the late Rev. Cornelius and Jesmyn (Houghton) Mieras. She married the late William B. Havill on February 11, 1938, also in Detroit.

After graduating from high school, Elizabeth attended Syracuse University. She and her husband Bill owned and operated the Credit Bureau in Traverse City for over 30 years.

In her spare time Elizabeth enjoyed golfing, bridge, reading and fishing. She was a member at the First Congregational Church, the Traverse City Golf and Country Club, the Elks Club and the Spooners.

Elizabeth was a wonderful, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be remembered fondly.

Surviving Elizabeth are her children, Patricia (Frank) Whelan of Ann Arbor, Peg (William) Stokes of Midland, and Charles (Anne) Havill of Traverse City, seven grandchildren, Deborah (Richard Nation) Whelan, Daniel (Joanna) Whelan, John (Leann) Havill, Will Havill, Lyndsey Havill, Katy Stokes, Jim Stokes, 5 great grandchildren, Isaac, Elijah, Lauren, Kristen, Owen, and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband , son William M. Havill, brother Spencer Mieras and sister Jeanne Ricca.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 3-5pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.

Private family graveside services will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
