Obituary

Elizabeth June Koehler passed away on October 26, 2014, at age 89, after a short illness. She was born in Bay City, Michigan on June 21, 1925 to Ted and Gwen Blair. She married James F. Koehler on February 17, 1945. He predeceased her. Surviving are their 3 children: Gary Blair Koehler, who resides in New York City, Karen Anne LaPres (Alfred), who reside in Traverse City, and Kim James Koehler (Anne) also from Traverse City; 4 grandchildren, Jaimi Elizabeth Stanley (Aaron) Mt. Juliet, TN, Joshua Wenzel Koehler, Aurora, Ohio, Kara Marie Eskeli (David), and Dustin LaPres (Michelle), both of Traverse City, Michigan and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Jean Learman (Richard) and was predeceased by another sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Lindsay (Warren), both of Bay City. Also sharing in her celebration of life are many nieces and nephews, and very good friend, Phyllis Mansfield.

Betty was a strong Christian and conservative contributing her time and resources in their cause(s). She will be remembered as a practical joker with an incredibly contagious laugh, normally at inappropriate times (making it that much more fun for her). She loved all her animals, both domestic and the wild animals she would feed from her back porch.

A gathering and celebration of Betty's life with stories and memories will take place Saturday, November 1, from 1:00 -4:00 PM at her home, 240 Washington St., Unit 7, Traverse City, MI.

Those wishing to make an expression of celebration may contribute to their local Humane Societies or to Wyatt Koehler Stanley's pro-life memorial in Betty's name.
