TRAVERSE CITY — Elizabeth Helen "Liz" Luczek, 83, of Traverse City, died early Monday morning, Nov. 1, 2010, at Munson Medical Center, following a brief illness.Born Feb. 15, 1927, in Petoskey, she was the daughter of the late Leslie L. and Emma Jane (Burroughs) Hurlburt. On Feb. 15, 1947, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, she married Raymond Luczek, who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2006.Prior to her retirement, Liz had worked at Burwood Products as a Return Goods Inspector, a position she thoroughly enjoyed for nearly 30 years.She was a long-time active member of St. Francis Catholic Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2780 and D.A.V. Auxiliary Unit #38.Liz is survived by her children, Leslie J. (Theresa) Luczek, of Sparta, Rita (Lyle) Taylor, of Boyne City, and Teresa (Herbert) Bohr of Harrison; five grandchildren, Anna (David) Hofbauer, Susan (Ryan) Greutman, Connie Bohr, Elizabeth Bohr and Kathryn Luczek; three great-grandsons, John, Paul and Christopher Greutman; siblings, Mary Christoff, of Petoskey, and Leslie (Helen) Hurlburt, of Burton; along with many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Liz was also preceded in death by three sisters, Cora May Hurlburt, Lillian Norman, and Hazel DeTour; and one brother, Howard Hurlburt.Friends may call at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m.A Funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with Rev. Kenneth Stachnik serving as the celebrant. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.In remembrance of Liz, memorials may be directed to American Kidney Foundation or to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools.
