Ellen M. Michael, 85, of Holland and formerly of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Appledorn Living Center in Holland
Ellen was born on June 5, 1927 to the late Guy and Pearl (Welty) Griner in St. Joseph County, MI. She entered into marriage with Dr. Stanley L. Michael on June 18, 1955.
Ellen attended Western Michigan University and graduated from Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo Michigan as a registered nurse. She spent many years working along side her husband, Dr. Stanley and his medical practice before retiring in 1994. On downtime, Ellen often enjoyed playing a round of golf with her husband as a recreational past-time. Ellen was gracious with her time and volunteered often with Munson Medical Center and was part of the Munson Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church and was active with the church choir.
Ellen is survived by her loving family, her son, John (Linda) Michael of Dorr, MI, and her daughter, Mary (Tyler) Peterson of Oregon, one grandson, Kegan French, her sister-in-law, Barbara Griner and many other loving family members and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley in June of 2010 after 57 years of marriage, and her brother, Donald Griner.
Private family memorial services will take place at Central United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dale Ostema officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Regional Healthcare Foundation or to Central United Methodist Church.
