Elmer John Profrock, 88, of Kalkaska, passed away on November 16, 2020 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born August 12, 1931 in Effingham, IL, the son of Olivia and Elmer J. Profrock, Sr.
Elmer worked for Shell Oil Corporation-Pipeline Division for 36 years when he retired in 1992. He proudly served in the Korean War from 1952-1954: and was in the active duty reserves for the United States Army until honorably discharged in 1960. He was awarded the Good Conduct medal, the United Nations Service medal, the Defense Service medal; and the Bronze Korean Service medal.
He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City. He spent his early and mid-retirement days as an avid biker, touring on his Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Surviving Elmer are his sister, Margaret Fritcher and her husband Bill Fritcher, daughters in law Jennifer Profrock (wife to the late son Kenneth Profrock,) mother of Elmer's grandchildren Tam Profrock and Ella Profrock; and Sharon Profrock, wife to Elmer's late son Paul Profrock: and Jacob Profrock (son of the late Kenneth Profrock)
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Kenneth and Paul Profrock. May they be reunited in love once again.
A scripture reading will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. Thereafter, his interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Altamont, IL.
