Elsie Louise Casey, 101, of Traverse City (formerly New Brunswick, NJ), passed away October 31, 2021. She was born in New Brunswick, April 4, 1920, daughter to John and Anna (Hermann) Anderson.
In 1968 Elsie was widowed, and left to raise a family on her own. Since she was a smart and resourceful woman, she was able to do so through hard work and dedication. She worked a variety of jobs, including preschool education, and then a unit clerk for the New Brunswick Hospital. She worked at the hospital until the age of 75.
In 2018 Elsie moved to the area so she could be closer to family.
She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline (David) Amos and Patricia Coyle; grandchildren Ted and Brian Coyle, Amanda (Carter Mills) Amos and Rebekah (Ian) Collins; great-grandchildren Casey, Griffin, Nora and Nicholas Coyle, Kaitlyn Childress and Rauri and Fiona Collins; as well as other extended family members.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Casey; daughter Lauren Casey and brother John Anderson.
In accordance with her wishes a service will not take place. Elsie will be laid to rest in St. Peter Cemetery, New Brunswick, at a later date.
Elsie's family warmly extends their gratitude to those who cared for her at Hawthorne and Birch units of Grand Traverse Pavilions, in addition to Hospice of Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either of the organizations listed above, in Elsie's name.
