TRAVERSE CITY — Elvira "Vera" Angie Strom, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Munson Medical Center with family by her side.Vera was born on March 12, 1931, in Trenton, N.J., to Anthony Carlo and Mary Grace (Inverso) Pesca. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. On May 21, 1975, Vera married Ole N. Strom in Hamilton, N.J. After moving to Traverse City, she continued her career in meat wrapping at Giantway Grocery. Vera loved northern Michigan, especially spending time with her family and friends.Vera is survived by her husband, Ole; her son, David (Maureen) Troiani of Trenton, N.J.; her sisters, Angie Pesca and Connie (Joe) Fanelli of Hamilton, N.J.; Ole's sister and brother, Joan (Strom) Alpers of Traverse City and Richard (Sue) Strom of Beulah; her grandchildren, David (Jackie) Troiani of Chesterfield, N.J., and Daniel Troiani of Trenton, N.J.; her stepson, Chris Strom of Beulah; her great-grandchild, Ella Troiani of Chesterfield, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her four sisters, one brother and many other extended family.Private services will be at a later date. Memorial donations can be directed to the American Heart Association. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
