Enzo Paul Carpenter-Abend, one month and 27 days old, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at home.
Enzo was born on April 21, 2026, in Traverse City to his loving parents, Patrick Logan and Whisper Marie Carpenter-Abend.
Enzo was an incredibly strong and special baby. He began his journey in the NICU for his first 10 days of life, showing his strength from the very beginning. Just hours after birth, he was already holding his head up. He was always giggly, happy, and incredibly alert, with deep blue eyes that were beginning to lighten to a soft blue just like his mama's. His hair was also starting to lighten just like his parents.
Enzo loved being close to his mama, especially laying on her and taking naps. He enjoyed spending time with his dada, often watching YouTube together. His Philips Avent pacifier was his favorite. When he was awake, he was always looking around, taking everything in—curious about the world, aware of his surroundings, and always wanting to know who was in the room.
His beloved cats, Luci, Aries, and Lilith, watched over him closely, like little guardians, always near and aware of where he was. Enzo had his own unique personality—he didn’t prefer soft, soothing sounds, but instead loved loud music, especially $uicideBoy$, and particularly the song “Napoleon.” He was a sound sleeper, sleeping through the night from the very beginning.
Enzo was beautiful, deeply loved, and brought immense joy to his parents and all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Whisper; his grandparents, David and Ulrike Carpenter, and Matthew and Dana Abend; his great-grandparents, Kim and Vicky Rindlisbacher, Penny and Steve Abend, and Dennis Elmer; his great-grandmother, Oma Klee, his aunts and uncles, Juliane (Jose) Garcia-Conrado, Hannah Abend, Katelynn Abend, Madelyn Abend, Mason Carpenter, Kristine (Brandon) Lily, and Jessica (Dylan) Bradley; his great aunts and uncles, Trevor (fiancé Crystal Kraft) Rindlisbacher, Travis (Nicole) Rindlisbacher, Tyler Rindlisbacher, Brian (Robin) Carpenter, Stewart (Colleen) Carpenter, Jeff (Danica) Carpenter, and Cindy Pollard-Carpenter; his special cousin, Ati Dunham-Elmer, and her son, Ace Jack Dunham-Worm, who was born just three days after Enzo; along with many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation for Enzo will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.
