John "Eric" Laskey, age 58, of Interlochen, Michigan, passed away at his home after a sudden medical event. He was discovered on January 21, 2026.
Eric was born on December 26, 1967, in Traverse City, Michigan, to John Joseph Laskey and Delberta Lee Laskey. He grew up in the Traverse City area and graduated from Traverse City High School.
Eric spent many years working in the local community. His career included employment with Schelde Enterprises, working at Auntie Pasta's, and North Peak, and later with Great Lakes Wine & Spirits (Wicksall Distributors). He was known as a dependable, hardworking presence and built many lasting friendships through his work.
An avid sports fan, Eric rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams—the Tigers, Red Wings, and the Green Bay Packers. He loved playing golf, bowling, being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Music was another passion; he loved going to concerts, particularly classic rock performers, like Rush, and Metallica. His favorite band was Tesla, and he proudly shared that he would often head backstage and hang out with the bands.
Eric loved being with his son, and was happy to tag-along on any adventure that arose. Whether going to sporting events, watching a game on TV, or exploring the woods.
Eric is survived by his son, Jonathan (Aliyah) Laskey; his brothers, Jason Laskey; Jeff (Lynn) Laskey; and his niece, Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delberta Laskey.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, in Traverse City.
