Erik Lee Dahl, 49 of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep on November 25, 2022.
Erik was born on August 14, 1973 to Peter and Linda (Derbyshire)Dahl.
Erik grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from Avondale Highschool in 1991.
Erik was a master sign specialist and worked for Gardner Sign Company all over Detroit at the Ren Cen, Comerica Park, Ford Field and the Motor City Casino. When he moved to Traverse City, he worked for Image 360.
Above all else, Erik cherished his family, especially his son Emmett and daughter Vivienne. He would do anything for them. He coached Emmett when he played basketball, hockey and football and they always found time to build legos and play video games together. Vivenne took swim lessons on Tuesdays and together they had fun swimming at the open swim. He adored his baby girl.
He was also quite the adventurer and loved to ride his touring motorcycle all throughout the UP and across the United States. Erik never met a stranger and would often strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He loved a good rock hunt and was a master at collecting Petoskeys and Yooper-lites. One of his greatest legacies is his park that he built on the family property on Old Mission Peninsula. Recently, he discovered his love for cooking and entertaining friends and family. He will be so greatly missed by all who knew him.
Erik was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Doris and his paternal grandparents Paul and Lois.
Erik is survived by his wife Thena; son Emmett; daughter Vivienne; parents Pete and Linda; sister Rebekah (Brad) Scarborough; nephew Beckett; Emmett's mom Ann; stepson Chay Drexler and his beloved Hemmingway cat, Oden.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 2:30 pm with visitation beginning at 2:00 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
A celebration of his life will also be held at his park in August of 2023.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund for his children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
