Ernest "Butch" Emery of South Boardman, Michigan, passed away at the age of 79 on August 4, 2022, at Medilodge Leelanau.
He was born to the late Ernest Albert and Gertrude (Behrendt) Emery on July 6, 1943, in Detroit. He was one of five children. He now joins his deceased siblings, brother Dennis and sisters Gertrude "Tootsie", Phyllis and Ginger.
He worked as a clerk in General Stores at Ford Motor Company and also on the loading dock for Ford's automobile delivery railcars. After retiring, Butch lived in the Kalkaska area for over twenty years.
He previously served in the United States Army and was a proud member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 74. In addition to his loyal service to Post 74, Butch also enjoyed woodworking and a passion for music. From childhood he played lead, rhythm and bass guitar with his father and other family members.
Butch is survived by his wife of 58 years Carol Ann Skotak; his daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa (Leon) Alberts, Deborah (Jeff) Steinbeck, Barbara (Jim) Hanks and Susan (Craig) Justice; as well as his grandchildren, Sean, Alysha, Jeffrey (Sabrina) and Steven (Lonna).
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery where Butch will be laid to rest.
