Ernest "Ernie" J. Serocki, 90, of Maple City passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2016 at his home. Ernie was born on December 14, 1925 in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late John and Nora (Kania) Serocki. He married Virginia "Jean" Moskwa on November 11, 1950. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Ernie had been employed as an engineer for General Motors Chevrolet Division retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service. Over the years Ernie was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, St. Ladislaus Catholic Church and St. Rita – St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ernie had a love for music. He was in the General Motors Chorus, the Chevrolet Glee Club and St. Rita's Choir. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles, Cherryland V.F.W. Post #2780 and the American Legion in Maple City. Among his other interest Ernie enjoyed woodworking and leathercraft.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia "Jean", a daughter, Deborah Ann (Steve) Sawka, three grandchildren; Andrew (Adina) Sawka, Emily (Christopher) Mallory and Natalie (Adam) Harvey, three great-grandchildren; Nicholas Harvey, Alexandria Mallory and Elizabeth Mallory. Also surviving are a sister, Geraldine Grant as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son; Douglas Serocki and a brother, John Serocki.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Ernest will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Rita – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 8707 S. Hill Rd., Maple City, MI 49664, with Rosary and visiting starting at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Pablo Martinez will officiate.
Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of Cherryland V.F.W. Post #2780.
