Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Ernestine "Teen" Masick, 96, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at Boardman Lake Glens.Teen was born Oct. 11, 1915, to the late Ernest Bosma and Ethel May (Taylor) Hawley, in Battle Creek. In the early '40s, Teen met her "greatest Christmas gift," Otto Egon Masick, and the two married on Feb. 10, 1945. They spent most of their married life in Battle Creek and retired to Traverse City in 1992. They were both active and charter members of West Lake Presbyterian Church, and later they were members of The Presbyterian Church in Traverse City.Teen enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and needlepoint. She will be fondly remembered for her Bunny Cakes and pillow cookies. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.Teen is survived by her children, daughter Carolyn (Dale) Wright, son, Phillip (Diane) Masick; grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Laramore, Megan (Grant) Blackmer, Andie (Matt) Beaver, Jessica (fiancé, Drew Van Vliet) Masick; and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Shelby and Colin Laramore and Ellie Grace Beaver.Teen was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Masick, on Dec. 29, 2010.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec., 28, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, with a visitation held one hour prior. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.Please sign Teen's online guestbook at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.The family is being served by Reynolds-jonkhoff Funeral Home.
