Erwin P. Sporte

TRAVERSE CITY – Erwin P. Sporte, age 98, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Munson Medical Center. He was born in Grand Rapids, November 6, 1922, the youngest of three boys to Peter and Nell Sporte. Erwin worked in a dental laboratory for 60 years. In 1964 he purchased the Valley City Dental Laboratory from its founder Roland B. Chrispell, and operated it until his retirement.
He married Margaret "Peg" (Sears) Sporte on June 28, 1946. She preceded him in death on October 9, 2009 after 63 years, 3 months, 11 days, and 3 hours of a loving marriage. They moved to Traverse city in 2002 to be near their numerous friends.
A celebration of Erwin's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 8075 Hoxie Road, Cedar, MI 49621. A luncheon will follow at the church. His cremated remains will be placed near Peg's in the memorial garden of the Presbyterian Church of Traverse City.
