Obituary

Eugenia Lucille "Jean" (Supranowicz) King, 89, entered into eternal peace on July 2, 2016 in Jackson, MI. She was the last of her generation.

Jean was born at home on January 3, 1927 in Detroit, MI. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophia (Telesz) Supranowicz. In 1945 she graduated from Pershing High School. At the age of 13, she became a coffee girl for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, eventually working her way up to head cashier and bookkeeper.

Jean was a very crafty person. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, cooking, sewing, fashion shows and needlepoint.

In August of 1949 she married "the guy next door" Paul F. King, who preceded her in death.

Within their 52 years of marriage, they raised four children whom survive her; Kermit (Kimberly) King of Sterling Heights, Kevin (June) King of Ortonville, Keith (Debbie) King of Jackson, and Kerrie (Craig) Berg of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Katie (Michael) Dickerson of Jackson, Justin of Killeen Texas, Stacy (Mathew Booth) King of Kansas City, MO, Megan (Fiancé Matthew Crowdis) of Ithaca, Aubree of Ypsilanti, Tyler Berg of Walker, Rebekah Berg and Kaycie Berg both of Battle Creek; great granddaughter Lucille Anna Dickerson; 36 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her two sons, Paul Jr. and Kelly Gene King. Sisters and spouses; Irene (Xavier) Bernard, Anna (Stewart) Scharmen, Florence (Victor) Hrusczcyk; brother-in-law and sister-in-law's, Joseph Nimety, Gertrude (Reginald) Skellenger, Francis (Olga) King, Merle (Mary) King, Evelyn (John) Novak, Ethel (William) Faller, Vallie King and Shirley (Howard) Jacobsen; nieces and nephews, Gregory Bernard, Kathleen Rexford, Merle King Jr., Chris Jacobsen, Patti Jacobsen and John Novak.

Jean was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mapleton, Grand Traverse Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court # 1391 and the Red Hat Society.

The family wishes to thank the Staff and Facilities of John Ganton, The Grand, For accommodating all her needs. And a special thank you to Fr. Tim and Fr. Peter from Our Lady of Fatima in Jackson.

Visitation will be held on today, Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5-7pm with a rosary held at 7pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 8, at 11am also at the Church. Fr. James Bearss will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Allegiance Hospice of Jackson.
