Eva Luz Bigsby

Eva Luz Bigsby, age 97, of Bellaire, Michigan died Sunday June 28, 2026 at The Maples of Benzie County MCF. She was born January 24, 1929, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Alberto Jiménez and Dolores Bonilla de Jiménez. Her early life was spent on the sugar plantation that her father oversaw and at an all-girls boarding school where she frequently tested the nuns’ patience. At 22, she moved to the United States where she started her work as a lead production supervisor at H. Margolin & Co. INC. at the height of fashion manufacturing in New York City. The company would open another manufacturing facility in Brattleboro, Vermont not long after her move. When the opportunity struck, she took it, moving to Vermont to start a family with her late husband, Milton Bigsby.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker that delighted in music, dancing, laughing, and singing with her loved ones. Eva admired poetry, loved to travel around the US, and found joy in sewing and other crafts. After her husband retired, Eva and Milton moved to the Florida Keys where they ran an award-winning deli! With her native tongue and Puerto Rican heritage, she fit right in with the locals. Whatever it was, Eva always made sure to live “la vida loca” the crazy life.

She is survived by her three children, Wanda Korzowski (and her husband Stephen), Rick Bigsby (and his wife Cindy), Lisa Grimaldi (and her husband Gino). They had six grandchildren: Gino Grimaldi Jr., Max Korzowski, Vincent Grimaldi, Luke Bigsby, Hannah Bigsby, and Isaac Bigsby.

Visitation will take place July 8, 2026 from 1-3pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home & Cremation Services followed by a short service.
