Evelene Joyce Iacovoni

Evelene Joyce (Gattner) Iacovoni, 90, of Traverse City passed away on September 5, 2023, at Munson Hospice House with her family by her side. Evie was born on August 3, 1933, in Lake Odessa to her loving parents Marcus "Dolph" Gattner and Naomi (Leak) Gattner. She grew up in Lansing, graduating from Sexton High School and Business College. She worked as the secretary to the President of a Lansing Paper Company.

On July 24, 1954, she married Gordon E Iacovoni at the First Christian Disciples Church in Lansing. They raised four children together moving from St. Johns to Traverse City in 1972. Evie was an avid wall paperer and had a wall papering business "Paper Dollies" in Traverse City. She enjoyed reading, crafting projects and was an excellent seamstress. Evie was highly regarded by her family and friends for the amazing meals she prepared. She created family food traditions that continue with family. We will forever miss the love she put into each dish and the attention to detail in her decorating for every event. Evie gave back to her community by assisting with American Red Cross Blood Drives through the Elk's Lodge and was a dedicated Poll Volunteer for Elmwood Township. Evie and Gordon spent their retirement years exploring the United States in their motorhome and always loved coming home to enjoy pontoon boat rides and stunning views of Cedar Lake in their own backyard. She kept lifelong friends from her youth, St. Johns Neighbors and Church, Newcomers and their Motor Home Club. She and Gordon were married for 64 beautiful years.

Evie was survived by her children and daughter-in-law's David and Roberta (Gingery) Iacovoni, Steven and Teresa (Tracy) Iacovoni, Janice Iacovoni, and Dan and Susan (Schorr) (Berce) Iacovoni as well as her grandchildren Kristina and Jerod Marsh, Jonathan Iacovoni, Anthony and Nicholle (Bullard) Iacovoni, Dante Iacovoni, Dominic "Tony" Iacovoni, Angelina "Angie" Iacovoni, Peyton and Maddie (Baker) Berce, Reagan Berce and Autumn Berce, her great grandchildren Isabelle Marsh, Leonardo Iacovoni and Harrison Iacovoni.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gordon Iacovoni, her parents Dolph and Naomi Gattner, as well as Gordon's parents Dewey and Edna (Brownell) Iacovoni and her sister and brother-in-law Marie and Roy Reynolds.

A private family service will be held in the Prayer Garden at The Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Evie's honor may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
