Evelyn Marie Ankerson, 90, of Traverse City, passed away March 16, 2020 peacefully at the Bay Ridge Assisted Living.
Evelyn was born October 6, 1929 to the late Vincent and Violet (Hoch) Worm.
On July 22, 1950 Evelyn married the man of her dreams Merle Ankerson and together they gardened, traveled and loved and lived life to the fullest. One of the favorite places to visit was the cabin in L'anse, Michigan during all seasons especially the fall in time for the color change.
Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker, providing love, support and wonderfully cooked meals to her family.
She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and loved when the vegetable garden was planted as the first 5 rows were prepared for her flowers. She was an avid visitor to the casino and always loved a few extra dollars in her pocket at the end. She will forever be missed.
Evelyn is survived by her son Gary (Pam), daughter Cynthia (Phil), grandchildren; Kyle (Megan), Matthew, McKenzie, Andrew, Daniel and Jana, 2 great grandchildren and sisters Loretta, Shirley and Maggie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Eugene and her brothers Wolford Worm and Arthur Worm.
The family will be gathering privately with burial to follow to honor Evelyn.
Those considering a contribution in Evelyn's memory may choose to do so to Hospice of Michigan or The Wounded Warrior Project.
The family would like to thank Bay Ridge Assisted Living and the Hospice of Michigan for the outstanding care, compassion and love they showed not only to Evelyn but also the family.
The family is being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
