TRAVERSE CITY — Evelyn J. Covey, 94, of Traverse City, died Oct. 16, 2014.
Evelyn was born on April 7, 1920, to the late Dewey and Leona (Willard) Stevens in Kalamazoo. She entered into marriage with Cecil "Jack" J. Covey Jr. on Aug. 10, 1940, in Kalamazoo.
Evelyn lived in the Traverse City area since 1971, moving from Kalamazoo.
She was formerly employed as an office manager with Kalamazoo Mill Supply Company. While in Kalamazoo she served on the board and was very active in the Cooperative Extension Service.
Evelyn was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed volunteering at Traverse City Community Hospital, where she worked in the gift shop for many years. She also enjoyed gardening and music and was a square and round dancer since 1978.
Evelyn is survived by her many cousins, many caring, loving friends, a special person, Jack Lyon; special nieces, Joan and Robin Woldek; and many who helped as caregivers.
Evelyn was preceded in death her parents, Dewey and Leona (Willard) Stevens; and husband, Cecil "Jack" J. Covey.
Funeral services will take place Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, followed by graveside committal services held at First Congregational Garden of Remembrance.
