Traverse City - Evelyn Marie Hammond, 80, of Interlochen, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Munson Medical Center.

Evelyn was born on Monday, August 8, 1938 to the late Adam and Helen (Maske) Poliski in Muskegon. On Saturday, December 26, 1959, she married James F. Hammond in Muskegon

A resident of Interlochen since 1971, Evelyn was a member of St. Patrick Parish, where she was very active with the funeral luncheon committee. She was an amazing story teller, enjoyed doing ceramics and playing Bunco, Bingo and Cribbage, was an excellent cook and taught her grandchildren how to bake. Her greatest joy was being with her family and her grandchildren.

Surviving Evelyn is her husband, Jim; her children, Susan (Bob) Glass of Interlochen, Sandy Wing of Clare, Jimmy (Catherine) Hammond of Pellston, Thomas (Lisa) Hammond of Traverse City and Kathryn (John) Schoedel of Manistee; grandchildren and great Grandchildren: Bobby (Liz) Glass and their daughter Gracie, Katie Glass, Jacob Glass, Julia Schoedel (fiance Cody Allerding), Elizabeth Schoedel (fiance Colton Little), John Michael Schoedel, Eric Wing, Mellisa Hill and her son Elijah, Ashleigh Hammond, Marissa Hammond, Natalie Hammond, Courtney Hammond, and Aaron Hammond; a sister in law, Donna Poliski and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Peggy, her parents and her siblings.

Visitation for Evelyn will take place Friday, May 10 from 5 until 7 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the rosary being recited at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, also at St. Patrick Church, with visitation one hour prior to the mass. Burial will be in Inland Township Cemetery at a later time.
