Evelyn May Millward, 85 of Traverse City, MI went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 18. Evelyn, the daughter of George and Sadie Salem, was born on May 14, 1927 in Johnstown, PA. She was married to Dale Millward on August 5, 1951.
During her working years, Evelyn was employed as a buyer for Alvin's and the Lions Store (clothing stores in Pontiac). After her time in the clothing industry Evelyn became the manager of the executive dining room at the GM Administration building, where she won many awards for her outstanding performance. Finally, Evelyn owned her own beauty shop in Lake Orion. For several years they moved back to the her home town to care for her father, and then to Traverse City to be with immediate family.
Evelyn will always be remembered as being a real "people" person, attracting people with her love for people, even strangers. She would go out of her way to meet someone, and then keep in touch with them for years to come. If you met Evelyn you immediately felt like you'd known her forever.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Dale; her children, Rev. Dan (Laura) Millward of Traverse City and Yvonne (Mark) Larson of Phoenix; her grandchildren, Jonathan (Tai) Larson, Jennifer (Eric) Nittolo, Christopher (Nikki) Millward and Joseph (Emily) Millward, 15 great grandchildren, and her sisters Joan Burke and Barbara Castellano.
