LAKE ANN - Evelyn Libby Swanson, 82, of Lake Ann, passed away on March 20, 2018 at Munson Medical Center. Evelyn was born on October 5, 1935 in Detroit, to the late Joseph and Marian (Hoitola) Supe.
Evelyn graduated from Fitzgerald High School in Van Dyke, MI, in 1953. She married Warren A. Swanson in Detroit, on August 20, 1955 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple had two sons together and lived in Detroit, Manistee, and Lake Ann in 2002 when Warren passed.
Evelyn was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially enjoyed watching and feeding birds that flocked to her bird feeder. She baked a unique macaroni and cheese dish that included stewed tomatoes. Evelyn volunteered as a teacher's aid for special needs children, which she found very rewarding. Evelyn has been a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Lake Ann since its early beginnings.
Evelyn is survived be her son Robert (Linda) Swanson of Meridian, ID; grand daughter, Amanda (Scott) Tomkiewicz, Donya Swanson; grandson's, Eric, Matthew and Ali – John Swanson; great grand children, Zoe Swanson, Sohpia Swanson and Evalynn Swanson; sisters, Shirley Allen of Chesterfield, MI, Ann (Al) Harbury, of Clemmons, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren A. Swanson; son, John Swanson.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Burial will take place the following day at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee, MI.
Memorial contributions in Evelyn's name may be directed to Advent Lutheran Church of Lake Ann.
