Evelyn Laura Youker, 86, of Grawn passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Tendercare of Traverse City. Evelyn was born on September 10, 1927 in Buckley to the late Homer and Laura (Hammer) Henigan. She was married to David H. Youker on November 22, 1946 at the Buckley Parsonage. Evelyn was a member of The Tabernacle in Buckley, she was also involved with the Northwestern Michigan Fair. She was a member of the Draft Horse Association and loved her miniature horses. Evelyn had a passion for writing she authored two books and numerous poems. She loved hunting and baking as well. Most of all spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, David Youker, four sons and two daughters; Gary (Dianne) Youker, Allen (Patricia) Youker, John (Jennifer) Youker, Dennis (Dawn) Youker; Jill (Mike) Lovano and Jan Youker-Bailey, a sister, Ann (Sam) Bossingham. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison Grace Bailey, a sister, Mabel Knight and four brothers; Al Henigan, Charles Henigan, Robert Henigan and Gilbert Henigan.
Friends are welcome to visit with Evelyn's family on Friday, April 11. 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
A funeral service honoring Evelyn will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at The Tabernacle, 213 W. Wexford Ave., Buckley. Lead Pastor John Vemilya will officiate. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Grawn at a later date.
