Traverse City - Fay Marie Welborn, 84, passed away November 19, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Fay was born on November 4, 1930 in Moeltke Twp, in Presque Isle County.

Fay retired from Michigan Bell in 1994 (Ameritech at the time) after 28 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and volunteered at Munson Hospital after retirement.

Fay honorably served in the United States Marines. She was discharged in 1953.

Fay was preceded in death by her son, James, parents Robert and Nellie (Marks) Johnson, her seven brothers: Raymond, Mahlon (Whitey), Melvin, Glenn, Harvey, Joseph, and Robert; three sisters: Evelyn, Elsie and Nina.

Fay is survived by her children Dale of Traverse City, Jerry (Cindy) of Grand Ledge, Susan Wickham of Tampa, FL, and Sara Welborn of Traverse City, eight grandchildren: Megan, Katie, Nicole, Michael, Heather, Jake, Christopher, Jonathon, four great grandchildren: Owen, Alex and Elizabeth and Grace; sister-in-law Elsie Johnson of Chase.

A memorial service will be held at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 12 Noon with visitation beginning at 10 am.

Memorial contributions in memory of Fay may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
