Florence Lucille Axtell

TRAVERSE CITY - Florence Lucille Axtell, 90, of Traverse City, passed away February 18, 2016. She was born in Traverse City, on June 21, 1925 to the late Thomas and Lottie (Wares) Skiver,
Florence graduated from Traverse City High School and was a native to the area for her entire life. On August 29, 1947 she married Clarence Axtell in Traverse City and together they raised three children, Harold, Sharon and Janis.
Florence worked her entire career at the State Hospital as a dietary and attendant nurse. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Florence was also noted as one of the best bowlers around and won many awards. She also enjoyed golf, knitting and cooking.
Florence is survived by her three children; Harold (Deb) Axtell, Sharon (Bill) Moyer and Janis Axtell; grandchildren, Kyle Axtell, Tonya McGrew, Heather Lozowski; great-grandchildren, Zoe Lozowski, Morgan McGrew and Nora McGrew; sister, Beulah Lautner; and nephews, Eli and Tom Haywood.. She was loved and will be missed by many friends.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Clarence Axtell (Feb.21,1999); siblings; Goldie Kingdon, Vernard Skiver, Francis Skiver, Viola Meinke, Carl Skiver, and Delielle Skiver.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on March 2, 2016 from 5 to 8p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
