Florence Marie Lasich

March 13, 1931 — June 23, 2014

Florence Marie Lasich, 83, died peacefully on Monday June 23 with family at her bedside.
Florence was born on March 13, 1931 in Farmington Michigan, to William A. and Pearl B. (Heliker) Tamm. On August 12, 1950, she married the love of her life, Jack W. Lasich. Together they lived in West Bloomfield until moving to Manton in 1973 where they owned and operated L&L Manufacturing. In 1999, they retired to their home in Traverse City to be closer to their daughters.
Florence was a loving mother and a gifted homemaker that devoted her life to caring for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a busy place where she spent many hours with her children and grandchildren and always made sure the table, pantry, and "cookie drawer" were full for everyone to enjoy. Florence was a talented seamstress, as well as, piano and organ player. She loved puzzles, playing euchre and pinochle and was the ultimate "zoom by ya" Cribbage Queen. She also loved gardening, fishing trips, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, bowling and being at" the cabin" with those she loved. Strong in her faith, she found time to serve as the secretary and organist for Salem United Church of Christ in Farmington, and later continued serving and playing the organ for the First Christian Church in Manton. She also served as the Greenwood Township treasurer while living in Wexford County.
There is no doubt that Florence was greeted at the gates of heaven by Jack. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Mary Lowe and Wilma Aho.
Surviving are daughters; Janice (Ronald) Frenchi of Interlochen and Jacalyn (Larry) Lasich-Clayton of Traverse City, grandchildren Jenifer (Rick Clark) Moon of Traverse City, SFC John M. Moon of Camp Shelby, Mississippi, Jamie M. Moon of Traverse City, Daniel J. Lasich of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jessica N. Holland of Traverse City, and great grandchildren Aaron Moon and Kristen Clark. Florence is also survived by two very special godsons, Jeff Lasich of Nunica and Jason Tamm of Traverse City, and her sisters Helen (Bill Marshall) Temple of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Vi (Dale) Mallett of Highland, Michigan as well as many treasured cousins, nieces and nephews.
A very special thank you to the staff of Country Pleasures Assisted Living for your loving care these last two years and to Hospice of Michigan for the peace and comfort provided to all during the last days of her life.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date. Per her wishes cremation has taken place.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
