Florence June Watkins passed away on August 30, 2024 in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She was born May 9, 1929 in Rochester Michigan, to William A. Spencer, and Matilda P. (DeCaussin) Spencer. She was one of 5 siblings, including her identical twin sister, Floris (Spencer) Stoner, still living in Rochester. Florence graduated from Rochester High School in 1947, and was married to Henry Beach Watkins for 62 years, who preceded her in death. They had one child, Brad Henry (Annette) Watkins, 2 grandchildren, Chelsea, Hillary (Tyler) and 3 great-grandchildren, Aubree, Paisley, and Colton, who all survive her.
Florence retired from Rochester School District, where she was a cook for the cafeteria for about 20 years. She continued her love for cooking and perfecting her recipes into her 90s. She was always proud of the food she made, and the decor she accumulated to meticulously decorate her home. She loved antiquing, shopping, tending to her many flower gardens, and spending time with her grandkids.
In addition to Rochester, she and her husband retired to Alger Michigan, on Forest Lake, and subsequently resided in Traverse City, Michigan for over 10 years. She moved to Englewood Florida in 2017. She was very friendly and well-liked, and took a positive outlook on living her life to the fullest with friends and family. Her burial is in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Traverse City, MI.
