Florie B. Alandt
Traverse City - Florie Alandt, 81, of Traverse City died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 25, 2017 at Munson Medical Center.
Florie was born on December 28, 1935 in Nice, France to the late Charles and Marie Louise (Pellier) Houques - Fourcade. She immigrated from France at the age of 22 on board the last voyage of The Isle de France.
Florie married William F. Alandt her best friend, true love and life partner in Dearborn on September 2, 1960.
Florie earned her Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University graduating summa cum laude in 1978.
Florie was a social worker for over twenty years in Detroit. He first job was at Interim House, Detroit's first shelter for victims of domestic violence. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, writing poetry, listening to classical music and making floral arrangements. Above all else she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
Florie is survived by her son Mark (Vickie) Alandt, Eric Alandt, Jeffrey Alandt and Cristine (Fred) Robb all of Traverse City; many grandchildren; and siblings Jacqueline, Sylvere, France, Christian and Joelle.
Florie was preceded in death by her husband William and her two brothers, Jean and Claude and one sister, Elaine.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Florie's life on Sunday, October 1st from 1 to 3 PM at Reynolds-Jonkoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, Michigan.
