Floy M. Defer

TRAVERSE CITY – Floy M. DeFer, 89, of Traverse City passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Boardman Lake Glens-Highlander. Floy was born on May 30, 1927 in Traverse City to the late Vivan and Martha (Gould) Helfrich. She married the love of her life Harvey DeFer on May 7, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1979. Floy had been employed as an accounting clerk at the Traverse City State Hospital retiring after 27 years of service. She loved to travel, reading, music, the theater and playing bridge. Floy also enjoyed sports both participating and watching them on television.

Floy is survived by her son, Randall DeFer, two grandsons; Matthew (Heather) DeFer and Tyler DeFer. Also surviving are two granddaughters; Autumn DeFer and Hazel DeFer as well as two nieces; April (Chris) Branson and Laurel Gainor.

She predeceased by a sister, Wilma Malarik.

In accordance with Floy's wishes cremation has taken place.
