Floyd Eugene Kevwitch, 93, lifelong resident of Garfield Township, died December 2, 2021. Floyd was born in his family's farmhouse in Traverse City, December, 12, 1927, son Adolph and Blanche (Monroe) Kevwitch.
Floyd was proud to have been born, grew-up, married, raised a family and entered eternal life in the same home, something few can say these days.
Floyd served honorably in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer his entire life, in addition to carrying a full-time job. Another claim to fame was the fact that he was Cone Drive's last manual lathe operator. This was a job he performed with skill and precision during his 30 plus year employment at the company.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 73 years (married October 3, 1948), Gladys (Peck); children Michael (Elizabeth), Brian (Char), Kristy (Steven) Sivek and Kevin (Dawn); 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; 8 siblings and great-granddaughter Tayler Brown.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Friday, December 10, at Grawn United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10AM and continue until the time of service. Military honors will be rendered at the church after the funeral. A private interment will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at a later date.
