Forest (Peanut) Allen Dodson, age 73, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Peanut was born in Detroit, the youngest of 6 children, to Russell and Hettie Dodson.

He joined the army at 17, and was stationed in Kansas, and then in Germany. He married Jeanette, his wife of 49 years, in 1971. They raised their 3 children in Royal Oak. Peanut worked at General Motors until his retirement. He and Jeanie then moved to Grayling, a place of many weekend trips during his years of work and raising a family. He enjoyed hunting, old cars, and anything army.

Peanut is survived by his children: Theresa and Al (Nicole); 8 grandsons: Cody, Brandon (Kaylee), Henry, Caine, Cassius (Vashti), Cougar, Cannon, and Case; 1 granddaughter: Tessa; 2 great granddaughters: Mabel and Dixie; his brothers: Marshall (Roberta) and Melvin (Nancy); his sister: Lois (Joe). He was preceded in death by his wife: Jeanie; his son: Danny; his sister: Phyllis (Steve), and his brother, Russ.

A military memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7 at 11 am at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI, with a luncheon to follow held at Al's home in Lapeer.
