TRAVERSE CITY — Frances "Fran" M. Barnett, 85, of Traverse City, passed away Feb. 4, 2012, at Tendercare of Traverse City.Fran was born on Oct. 18, 1926, in Indianapolis to the late John and Rose (Chasey) Vickery. On Aug. 17, 1946, she married John Barnett, who preceded her in death in 1988.Fran had worked as a store clerk at D&C in Milford, retiring from that position. While living in the Ann Arbor area, she volunteered as a mentor to children, which she throroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the Interlochen Bible Church and will always be remembered for her enthusiasm and love of crocheting.Left to cherish her memory and love are her children, Carol (Rich) Boshaw, Marilyn (Don) Ginther, Allyn (Judy) Barnett, Kathleen (Francois) Jodoin and John (Sherry) Barnett, along with 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her only niece, Donnabelle LaBonte.In addition to her parents and her husband, Fran was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Gregory, her granddaughter Sandy, granddaughter Chris and great-grandson Justin. Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Craner officiating.Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Association or the American Cancer Society.
