Frances Leone (Dunmore)Huey, age 89, passed away December 28, 2014 at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
She was born June 18, 1925 in Kewadin, MI. to Gordon W and Gertrude (Say) Dunmore. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother Robert who died at 4 months, her husband, Homer "Pat" Huey, and two sons, Harold R in 2005 and Gordon Lee in 2013, and a sister Annette M Widrig. She leaves behind a daughter Barbara J (Donald) Gurn and a son Michael C (Sharon) Huey, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, a sister Gloria Voice and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Carolyn Marentette whose friendship with Frances was a blessing.
Frances spent most of her life in the Grand Traverse area with the exception of the years she and Pat lived in the "cabin" in Grand Marais. She moved back to Traverse City when Pat passed away in 2002. She loved to watch birds, paint nature scenes, collect stones on the beaches of our Great Lakes, and she could make anything grow, whether it be a houseplant or a garden.
Fran spent the last 18 months in the Cherry Pavilion with the most excellent care, where she was loved like family. We wish we could name all the staff that made her so comfortable, but they are way too numerous.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral home with the service on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 11:00 am. Pastor Thomas White of the Long Lake Friends Church will officiate. Burial will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Traverse Pavilions.
