TRAVERSE CITY — Frances M. Sperry, 90, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at The Cottages at Grand Traverse Pavilions on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. Frances was born on Jan. 11, 1922, in Atlanta, to the late Grant and Mabel Thompson. On May 9, 1953, Frances married Max James Sperry. Frances worked as a nurse at Munson Hospital and later was the supervisor at Arnell Ingstrom Children's Unit at the State Hospital until she retired. In her spare time she enjoyed tending to her flower garden, crafting and knitting. She was also an excellent seamstress. Frances loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; and her brothers, Ben, Bill and Harry. Frances is survived by her children, Becky (Mike) Willsey, Ann (Myron) Donajkowski and Jim (Maggie) Sperry; eight grandchildren; 10 1/2 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Edna Kenyon and Nina Mae Crawford. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Central United Methodist Church.
