Frances Irene Vert

Frances Irene Vert, 99, of Traverse City passed away Monday April 6, 2020 at her home with her loving children at her side.

Frances was born October 12, 1920 in East Jordan, MI on the family farm to the late Albert and Clara (Divis) Stanek. She married the late Louis Vert on June 20, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1988.

Frances and Louis moved to Williamsburg and operated Gays Garage for many years. She was a hard-working devoted wife, mother and friend. At a young age Frances taught her children the value to hard work; teaching them to tend to the family garden every day and cherry picking at very young ages.

Also, Frances worked in the laundry department at the Days Inn for 15 years where she made many lifelong friends while working there.

In her spare time Frances enjoyed gardening, writing, sketching, drawing, sewing, quilting and was an amazing baker. Her special soups, SOS that tasted like steak and every Sunday chicken dinner and lemon pies will be forever missed.

Above all Frances will be remembered for her strong Catholic Faith. She was a devoted member to St. Francis Catholic Church since 1964.

Surviving Frances are her children, Jeannette (Alford) Williams of Williamsburg, Thomas (Susan) Vert of Traverse City, Kay (Ronald) Boals of Kewadin, Mike Vert of Traverse City, Emily Hennrick of Traverse City, Donald (Colleen) Vert of Pensacola, FL, Anthony Vert of Traverse City; grandchildren AJ, Gerard, John, Shawn, Jeff, Jennifer, Ted, Brian, Jean, Pat, Nicholas, Christopher, Eric; 20 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, sons, James and Daniel, son in law William Hennrick and 8 siblings.

A Rosary will be prayed at 10am on Thursday July 9, 2020 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Mass will then be held at 11am on Thursday July 9, 2020 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Followed by an urn burial at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery. The family is being cared for by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
